Our youth through Teen programs are designed for all ages depending on the activity, please see each ages group listed on this page to determine what is best suited for your needs. Ages 6 and under are typically expected to be accompanied by an adult companion for the duration of the program.

Preschool Ages 3-6

Strollin’ and Rollin’

Tuesdays, 5/14, & 5/28 at 10-11am

Parents or caregivers can get a work out in during a fitness walk through the park. Take a short hike led by the park district staff while your child relaxes riding in their stroller. Participants must provide their own stroller. A fun activity will also be available for the kids. This program is cancelled during inclement weather. No registration required.

Baby Animal Adventures Preschool Program (FULL)

Friday, 5/10/13

This informative and interactive personal safety program will dramatically increase your child’s ability to stay safe by teaching your child how to get help when in trouble, how to identify “bad” people,how to say “no” and mean it, how to respond to a bully and much, much more. The class is physical and involves running, jumping, yelling, and everything kids love. Kids discover that being safe involves having an excellent plan. Peek at the Creek Preschool Program

Fun with Fossils Preschool Program

Discover the state fossil of Ohio and hunt for other Ohio fossils in the creek. Bring your prized fossils back to the picnic shelter to turn it into a fun craft! Wear your creek shoes. An adult companion must attend.

Creative Fun with Paper Class

Tuesdays, 5/14/13, 6/11/13, & 7/9/13

If you enjoy crafts, you will be sure to have fun in this creative class! Each class is a separate session so you may participate in one or all of them. We will be making a variety of projects, using a number of crafting tools, and learning tips and tricks to make unique boxes, bags, and other creative items. Please bring scissors and adhesive such as a tape runner to class. All other items will be supplied. Register by 3/11, 4/1 5/6, 6/3, and 7/1.  Instructor: Cindy Mahaffey.

Babysitting (2 spots left)

Monday, 6/3/13

Well—trained babysitters can play an important role in preventing life threatening situations. This course is designed for young adults who will be babysitting or providing child and infant care. The program will teach the importance of responsibility, recognizing an emergency, personal safety, emergency action steps, fire safety, water safety, infant care, and also CPR, basic first aid and choking management. The program will be taught by a certified Bellbrook Fire Department, American & Safety Health Institute (ASHI) instructor. Participants will receive certification cards for CPR; Basic First Aid & Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) upon successful completion of the program. Bring a sack lunch. Register by 5/28.

Greene County Talent Show

Show us your talent Greene County! This contest is sponsored by the Miami Valley Recreation Activities Council and is for amateur talent ages 19 & under. There are four divisions; with winners in each division. Top 3 overall winners move on to compete at
the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering on 7/31. For other qualifying show dates in the Miami Valley and talent show rules please call the Park District office, 848-3535.

2013 Summer Camps

Skyhawk Tennis Camps

Monday-Friday, 6/3/13-6/7/13

Skyhawks tennis camps breaks down the fundamental skills of tennis through easily understood and applicable games and exercises that increase the athlete’s abilities. Each athlete will learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys, and serves to help develop the total player. While developing a love for the game, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that help make tennis a lifelong game. The participant-to- coach ratio is approximately 8:1. All campers will receive a t-shirt and a merit award! Participants should bring: tennis racquet, appropriate clothing, two snacks, water bottle, running shoes and sunscreen. Instructor: Skyhawks.

Kamp Kehl is brand new this year! Jammed packed days of group games, educational activities, crafts, playground time and nature hikes! Tiny-Hawk Sport Camp: Soccer and Basketball

Monday-Friday, 7/8/13-7/12/13

3 and 4 year olds can fine-tune their motor skills in soccer and basketball. Our Tiny-Hawk staff is trained to meet the special needs of young children and provide a positive introduction to sports. Children must be potty-trained to attend. Pull-ups are not allowed. Participant-to coach ratio is approximately 6:1. All campers will receive a t-shirt and a merit award! Beginning Golf Camp

Monday-Friday, 7/8/13-7/12/13

Campers will learn the fundamentals of swinging, putting, and body positioning during this camp. Skyhawks Sports has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) technology to its curriculum including oversized plastic club heads and “mini tennis balls” to help build confidence and to have fun. Their instruction is simplified so beginners can make an effective transition onto the golf course. All equipment provided. Please do not bring your own clubs. The participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 8:1. All campers will receive a t-shirt and a merit award! Participants should bring: Appropriate clothing, two snacks, water bottle, running shoes and sunscreen.

The Exciting World of Science (FULL)

Monday-Thursday, 7/22/13-7/25/13

Enjoy an exciting week of experiments and fun hands on activities to discover how science is part of our daily lives. Each day we will introduce something new and interesting. Your child will be the investigator as we try to unravel the mysteries of science. Discover how things fly, water conductivity, and a variety of other experiments. Each participant will receive a lab book to track all of their findings throughout the week. Register by 7/5/13. Instructor: Cindy Mahaffey

Outdoor Survival Skills Camp

Monday-Friday, 8/5/13-8/9/13

Learn basic outdoor survival skills including; fire building, first aid, knot tying, shelter building, plant & animal safety, and preparedness planning. Participants will enjoy games and skill challenges. Must wear closed toe shoes and appropriate clothes for outdoor program. Bring water bottle. Register by 7/22/13. Limited space available.
