2023 Park Levy Information

On November 7, 2023 the residents of Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Township will have the opportunity to vote on a 0.6-mill replacement levy for the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District. This levy will replace an expiring 0.4-mill levy that was originally approved by voters in 1993 and last renewed in 2013. The cost to the property owner would be approximately $21.00 per year for each $100,000 of assessed home value, a change of approximately $10.74 per year for each $100,000 of assessed home value.

The Park District’s primary source of revenue is from property tax levies provided by Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Township residents. The Park District does notreceive operating monies from the City of Bellbrook, Sugarcreek Township, or Greene County. This levy will provide operational funding of approximately $420,000 per year for a 10-year period.

The 2023 levy will provide necessary funding for operating and capital expenditures, including:
  • Improvements and maintenance of community infrastructure – playgrounds, hiking trails and paths, shelters and athletic fields
  • Developing new parks and trail systems
  • Providing the conservation of lands and natural resources
  • Continuing our award-winning program offerings
In keeping with our value of fiscal responsibility, the Park District continually pursues available grants for park improvement projects, acquisitions, and program initiatives. Over the past 7 years, this has led to $3.2 million in grant funding, which has made countless park improvements possible.

The Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District was created by local residents in 1970 with the intention of preserving open space and protecting natural areas. Today, the Park District manages over 700 acres of parkland, ranging from playgrounds and athletic fields to conserved natural areas. Our agency continuously works to improve the quality of life for the residents of our community through preserving open space, providing exceptional program opportunities, and enhancing recreational facilities.
